What is KART?

Since 1984, Kent Association of Riding Therapy, Inc. (KART) has been offering much more than a simple pony ride to our challenging population of riders!  As a Premiere Accredited Center of PATH International , we offer our participants activities which benefit their bodies, minds and spirits.   Everyone rides a horse, but they also have "hands on" experience in the stable management program as well as classroom experiences to enhance their developmental growth. Children, youth and adults with a wide range of abilities participate. From pre-school aged students to adults attending the Easter Seals Camp Fairlee, our riders are diverse.

KART is located in the beautiful rural area of Kent County, Maryland on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.  The honor of caring for our special riders as well as our special horses falls to our wonderful volunteers.  Our volunteers make this program possible; our expert instructors make it the best.   All of us…riders, volunteers, staff and horses…benefit from therapeutic riding!

KART is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization which exists because people like you generously donate their time and or financial support.  To learn more about volunteering or donating, click on You Can Help.

Even if you are not a horse person, we will find a use for your talents…volunteer leadership and service takes many forms…the hard work of our volunteer board members before the time at the farm is essential to bringing the riders, program volunteers and donations together!  Click here to find out more!
