How to Help

VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are the backbone of our organization.  We have 3 paid instructors.  All other needs are handled by volunteers.  This includes fund raising, publicity, grant writing, mailings, newsletters, and organizing the annual Antique Show and Sale (our primary fundraiser) as well as caring for the horses and equipment and assisting during the riding sessions.  You don’t have to be a rider or horse person to help KART.

There are many ways to support the wonderful purpose for which KART exists.  Here in brief are some of our volunteer needs as well as how to donate to KART and whom to contact if you think you have a horse that would be a good therapeutic riding horse.

Volunteers are as special and varied as our riders!

At the Farm

  • Grooming

  • Leading and/or side-walking

  • Helping with helmets

  • Helping with stable management

Not At the Farm

Would you serve on a committee responsible for:

  • Special mailings and maintaining mailing lists

  • Newsletter writing and/or production

  • Grant writing

  • Publicity and Advertising

  • Volunteer Coordination

To volunteer or to have someone contact you with more information, please e-mail info@kentridingtherapy.org.

DONATE

While our many volunteers do much of the work of the program, we do have real bills to pay to make this program possible.  Our fundraising covers these costs among others:

  • Horse Stall and Board

  • Veterinarian Fees

  • Farrier

  • Horse Dental Care

  • Equipment

  • Instructor Fees

  • Ring Fees

  • Insurance

For more information about donating, please email donate@kentridingtherapy.org.  To donate, please send your check payable to Kent Association of Riding Therapy, Inc. to KART, PO Box 126, Worton, MD 21678.

KART is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization.

HORSE OWNERS

If you have a healthy gelding, less than 16 hands high, with a sweet temperament that you would like to loan, donate, or sell, please let us know by e-mailing info@kentridingtherapy.org.

Even if you are not a horse person, we will find a use for your talents…volunteer leadership and service takes many forms…the hard work of our volunteer board members before the time at the farm is essential to bringing the riders, program volunteers and donations together!  Click here to find out more!
